CADET COVENANT AND KENT CADET WEEK

I am pleased to report that the Cadet Covenant with Canterbury College was signed last night at Canterbury College and supported by Maj Elderton and Cdt CSM Cobb from A Coy. This should open the way for an exciting range of career development opportunities for our cadets and adults.

Could I also remind you about Kent Cadet Week, which will run from Sat 12th-Fri 18th October and will be preceded by a major advertising campaign across all the KM Group papers in Kent. You may even get a visit from KMFM to collect material for their breakfast show, to be broadcast during Cadet Week.
During Kent Cadet Week it would be good to see ALL detachments holding open evenings, or where you share sites with the ATC, joint open evenings. Please feed all details of events to the County PRO who will collate and arrange for details to be loaded onto the Kent Cadet Week website:

ANNUAL CAMP

I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make Annual Camp 2013 a success. The weather was not on our side in week one but changed completely at the weekend to help bring camp to a successful conclusion.

A few reminders:

Annual Camp 2014 will be to Wathgill in North Yorkshire, between 16th - 29th August 2014 (the last two weeks of the Summer holiday).

The Officers' Study weekend will take place at Shorncliffe over the weekend 12th/13th October, with a dinner night in the Garrison Officers' Mess.

2014 will be the centenary of the outbreak of the first World War. I know that plans are already in hand for battlefield visits to Flanders and France as well as local level projects centred on war memorials and graves.

Thank you again for your hard work and I look forward to seeing all again at detachments and on Coy/Sqn training throughout the year.

KENT TO DEVON CYCLE RIDE

I am sure that you will all join me in congratulating the TSA in his successful cycle ride from Kent to Okehampton at the start of camp. He has managed to raise over £3000 which will be used to pay for over 30 cadets to take the BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork, Personal Skills and Citizenship.
